NEW free resources from Get Set! Piano and good wishes for the new academic year!

Get Set! Piano authors Karen Marshall and Heather Hammond are delighted to provide teachers with some additional free items to enjoy at the start of term, available on the Collins Get Set! Piano free resources page.

They include:

  • A new ‘scale festival’ record sheet (do also download the free scale guide, available under ‘Downloadable resources for Get Set Piano Tutor Book 2’)
  • A new teacher accompaniment for ‘Pumpkin pie’ from Get Set! Piano Tutor Book 1, page 33 (written by Heather Hammond)
  • A new arrangement (written by Karen Marshall) at the level of Get Set! Piano Tutor Book 1, page 20, with teacher accompaniment – ‘Pussy cat, pussy cat’
  • A new piece (written by Heather Hammond) at the level of Get Set! Piano Tutor Book 2, page 44 – ‘Nineteen blue bluebirds’

Karen Marshall said: “Myself and Heather hope students and teachers enjoy these new resources. It’s our way of saying thank you for your continued support and interest in the series (more will be added in the future!). We wish everyone a wonderful start to the term (whether online or face-to-face teaching). Stay safe, everyone, and happy music-making.”

Any teachers looking for a book that precedes the level of Get Set! Piano Tutor Book 1 may be interested in My First Piano Book written by Karen Marshall (launched in May 2020). This book can be used from 5 years of age and seamlessly moves onto Get Set! Piano Tutor Book 1 if a student is a younger beginner or needs more foundational work of pre-notation reading and general music-making. The book is complemented and supplemented by My First Piano Pieces, Puzzles and Activities.

There is also a collection of ‘Safe Music Activities for KS1’ for primary school music teachers.

Light Night

In Light Night, I wanted to write about a character who, like me, finds the dark days of winter difficult. A lot of people do find winter hard, and it can sometimes be a lonely time. I wanted to let readers know that if they feel like this, they’re not alone. And I wanted to share the joy of our special light night in the park.   Read More
